Your Role in Synergy's SuccessThe Analytical Chemist's primary responsibility will be to perform analytical testing of volatile and non-volatile components in foods, beverages, flavors, extracts and essences, in addition to supporting development and validation of methods for testing thereof. The role will heavily support various cross functional departments within the company including Research & Development, Quality Control and Operations. The role requires entry level knowledge of advanced analytical techniques used in the food and flavor industry and will involve collaboration with international colleagues.How You Will Contribute

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical testing of volatile and non-volatile components in foods, beverages, flavors, extracts and essences using GC-FID/MS and HPLC
  • Support development, optimization, and validation of analytical testing methods. Prepare SOP's and reports as needed
  • Carry out routine checks and, under supervision, perform regular maintenance on analytical instrumentation
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments as instructed by manager
  • Analyze experimental results and generate technical reports
  • Clearly communicate findings to key stakeholders throughout all project phases
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental materials, methods and results

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science or related discipline required. Master's degree or higher is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1+ years' experience in food / flavor industry with practical application of scientific methods is preferred. (If the candidate is a new grad, they will need to provide specific examples of projects and lab work conducted during their education.)
  • Demonstrated experience working with analytical instrumentation is beneficial, particularly GC-FID/MS and HPLC
  • Knowledge of laboratory terminology, equipment, materials, procedures, and fundamental methods related to flavor chemistry and food science
  • Ability to use scientific principles to solve problems and to determine the tools, equipment and methods needed to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple projects within any given day
  • Must be able to work accurately, efficiently and using good laboratory practices
  • Strong analytical acumen, organization skills and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, team player, self-starter, and able to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively

Salary Range: $ $56,000 to $76,000

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
