Job description

Department of Grants and Community Development Posting Expires: September 18, 2026 Salary Range: $62,500 - 68,000/annually General Description and Classification Standards:

This role combines entry level communications support with foundational analytical responsibilities. The position assists in creating clear, consistent messaging across the organization while also supporting management with data collection and basic analytical tasks to inform departmental decisions.

Supervision Received:

The position reports to a DGCD Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

Communications Responsibilities:
  • Draft, edit, and proofread internal and external communications including emails, announcements, newsletters, and presentations
  • Support social media efforts by creating posts, tracking engagement, and ensuring consistent brand messaging
  • Maintain and update content on internal and external websites
  • Assist with communication materials for events, initiatives, and departmental programs
  • Conduct basic research to support communication strategies and content development
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare summaries or reports as needed
  • Ensure communication materials follow organizational standards and guidelines
Management Analyst / Data Responsibilities
  • Collect, organize, and verify departmental data to support reporting and decision making
  • Assist with tracking metrics and preparing basic data summaries or dashboardsSupport analysis of program activities, workflow, or operational trends
  • Maintain spreadsheets, logs, or databases for recurring data needs
  • Prepare draft reports or briefings based on collected data
  • Collaborate with staff to gather information needed for audits, compliance reviews, or operational updates
  • Identify simple data inconsistencies and bring them to management for review
  • Support process improvement projects by compiling data and documenting observations
Public-Facing Communications Duties
  • Capture and relay DGCD community efforts and accomplishments by developing engaging content that highlights programs, initiatives, community impact, and success stories
  • Serve as a representative of the Department of Grants and Community Development at public events, community engagements, and ribbon cutting ceremonies
  • Participate in ribbon cutting events, program launches, outreach activities, and community celebrations by preparing remarks, documenting the event, and ensuring proper communication coverage
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and the public to strengthen awareness of departmental services
  • Support leadership by conveying consistent messaging, promoting transparency, and showcasing accomplishments across various communication platforms
