About the Program
The Foundation Fellows Program, powered by AmeriCorps VISTA, is a leadership and professional development experience designed for emerging changemakers who want to build long-term solutions to economic and social challenges in Puerto Rico.
As a Fellow, you will work on high-impact, capacity-building projects that strengthen communities, organizations, and systems. This is not an internship — it is a nationally recognized service opportunity that prepares you for leadership in the nonprofit, public, and social innovation sectors.
Role Overview
Foundation Fellows serve as strategic contributors across key initiatives at Foundation for Puerto Rico. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, design solutions, and help build sustainable programs that advance economic development, community resilience, and innovation.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about:
  • Social impact
  • Economic development
  • Systems change
  • Community-centered work
Key Responsibilities
Depending on placement, Fellows may:
  • Support strategic projects in economic development, innovation, research, or community engagement
  • Design tools, frameworks, or systems that strengthen organizational capacity
  • Conduct research and data analysis to inform decision-making
  • Support program development and implementation
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
  • Participate in leadership development sessions and Learning Labs
Professional Development
As a Foundation Fellow, you will receive:
  • Structured mentorship from FPR leaders
  • Access to Learning Labs and leadership workshops
  • Exposure to cross-sector collaboration
  • Coaching and career development support
Compensation amp; Benefits (AmeriCorps VISTA)
  • Living allowance of approximately $24,000 per year (paid bi-weekly)
  • Health benefits
  • Student loan forbearance (if eligible)
  • Upon completion, choose between:
    • Education Award, or
    • Cash end-of-service stipend
  • Access to the national AmeriCorps alumni network
Who Should Apply
We’re looking for candidates who:
  • Have a strong interest in social impact and community development
  • Are adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Are eligible to serve with AmeriCorps VISTA
Why Join
This Fellowship is a launchpad for purpose-driven careers. You will:
  • Build real-world experience
  • Gain national service credentials
  • Expand your professional network
  • Make a tangible impact in Puerto Rico
Join us in shaping Puerto Rico’s future.
