ICU | Emergency Department | Progressive Care/Stepdown

Practice at the Highest Level of Nursing

Are you an experienced critical care nurse who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex clinical problems, and values variety in your practice?

Join Mercy's Critical Care Float Pool and bring your expertise where it is needed most. Our team supports the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Progressive Care units, providing highly skilled nursing care to some of the hospital's most acute patients.

This is not an entry-level float position. This role is designed for experienced nurses who are confident in their clinical judgment, adaptable to changing patient needs, and committed to delivering exceptional care.

Why Nurses Choose Critical Care Float Pool

  • Practice across multiple high-acuity specialties
  • Maintain and strengthen critical care competencies
  • Expand your clinical expertise and adaptability
  • Work with diverse patient populations and diagnoses
  • Collaborate with highly skilled physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Avoid becoming limited to a single specialty area
  • Gain experience that supports future leadership and specialty certifications

What Makes This Role Different

Our Critical Care Float Pool nurses are recognized as clinical experts and trusted resources throughout the hospital. They provide support during periods of high census, staffing fluctuations, and increased patient acuity while helping ensure safe, exceptional patient care.

Every shift presents new opportunities to learn, lead, and make an impact.

What You'll Gain

✔ Competitive compensation plus night shift and float differentials

✔ Comprehensive benefits beginning day one

✔ Tuition assistance and certification support

✔ Opportunities to pursue CCRN, CEN, PCCN, and specialty certifications

✔ Leadership development and career advancement pathways

✔ Strong support from nursing leaders and clinical educators

✔ Exposure to a broad range of critical care experiences

We're Looking for Nurses Who

  • Excel in rapidly changing environments
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgement and critical thinking
  • Communicate effectively during high-stakes situations
  • Adapt quickly to new teams and workflows
  • Remain calm and confident during emergencies
  • Value teamwork and collaboration
  • Are committed to continuous professional growth

Ideal Candidates Have

  • ICU, Emergency Department, or Stepdown experience
  • Strong assessment and prioritization skills
  • Experience caring for high-acuity patients
  • A desire to continually expand their knowledge and competencies
  • A passion for making a difference wherever they are needed

Be the Nurse Others Count On

When patient acuity rises and challenges emerge, our Critical Care Float Pool nurses step in with confidence, expertise, and compassion. If you're looking for a role that rewards adaptability, accelerates professional growth, and allows you to make a meaningful impact across multiple critical care settings, we'd love to meet you.

Qualifications:

Required Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program

Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arkansas or compact state

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) through the American Heart Association

Preferred: 2+ years of critical care experience

Join a team where your experience is valued, your growth is supported, and every shift offers the chance to make a difference

Why Mercy?

From day one, Mercy offers outstanding benefits - including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, tuition support, and matched retirement plans for team members working 32+ hours per pay period.

Join a caring, collaborative team where your voice matters. At Mercy, you'll help shape the future of healthcare through innovation, technology, and compassion. As we grow, you'll grow with us.
