Job description

Job Title: Senior Aircraft Systems & Modification Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive Systems & Modification Engineer to join our fleet engineering team. This role sits at the intersection of large-scale aircraft modification projects and operational systems support. You will be instrumental in the deployment of next-generation high-bandwidth connectivity and entertainment platforms across our fleet, ensuring these complex systems are successfully integrated, certified, and maintained for operational reliability.
This is a "hands-on" engineering position for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will divide your time between supporting major modification programs and providing technical oversight for in-service cabin systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in aircraft systems, a working knowledge of modification certification processes, and the curiosity to master new technology in the aviation sector.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Modification Support (50%)
• Modification Oversight: Support fleet-wide retrofit programs, ensuring technical and schedule requirements are met.
• Certification & Compliance: Assist with Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) modification programs. Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, safety, and operational standards.
• Technical Documentation: Create, review, and validate engineering task cards, work instructions, and aircraft maintenance manual revisions to support frontline maintenance technicians.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal engineering leads, maintenance teams, and external hardware/software vendors to drive project execution and resolve technical roadblocks.
Operational Engineering Support (50%)
• Systems Reliability: Provide technical ownership for inflight connectivity and entertainment (IFEC) systems. Investigate and resolve performance issues to ensure a seamless passenger experience.
• Technical Lifecycle Management: Implement service bulletins, engineering changes, and system software updates across the in-service fleet.
• System Validation: Support troubleshooting, bench testing, and onboard verification activities for aircraft cabin and avionics systems.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Engineering Background: Experience supporting aircraft modifications, systems engineering, or aviation-related infrastructure projects.
• Regulatory Literacy: Familiarity with Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and the modification lifecycle for in-service aircraft.
• Systems Proficiency: Experience with aircraft systems testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Documentation Skills: Proven ability to create or review engineering change processes and maintenance documentation.
• Soft Skills: A self-starter mentality with the ability to ask questions, work independently, and proactively solve complex technical issues.
Preferred Attributes
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• Specific experience with Inflight Entertainment & Connectivity (IFEC) or high-bandwidth satellite communication systems.
• Familiarity with avionics, cabin systems, or commercial aviation communication platforms.
• Knowledge of FAA certification requirements and engineering change processes.
