ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE
Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company on a mission to reliably and repeatedly launch, land, and operate space systems from Earth to the Moon and beyond. As the partner of choice for critical space missions, Firefly is the first commercial company to launch a satellite to orbit with 24-hour notice and the first company to achieve a successful Moon landing. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, Firefly is looking for passionate, hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Propulsion Fluids Technicians at Firefly are hands-on specialists supporting the hardware that powers our vehicles to space. In this role, you'll clean, inspect, pressure test, and prepare flight components using processes like ultrasonic cleaning and passivation in a controlled environment. This is an entry-level role where you'll build real technical skills working with flight hardware to strict aerospace standards. If you're mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and ready to get your hands on hardware that goes to space, we want to hear from you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning & Passivation
  • Perform cleaning and passivation of flight hardware using solvent/chemical, abrasive, ultrasonic, and other approved methods in a controlled cleanroom environment
  • Execute passivation processes to ensure corrosion resistance and material integrity
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and follow all hazardous material handling procedures

Pressure Testing
  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic proof and leak testing on fluid system components
  • Operate precision measurement and calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical instruments
  • Verify acceptance criteria in alignment with engineering and quality requirements

Inspection & Verification
  • Conduct visual and borescope inspections to verify cleanliness and hardware integrity
  • Follow detailed work instructions, technical procedures, and engineering documentation
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformances, defects, and inspection discrepancies

Shop Standards & Safety
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols when working with chemicals, pressurized systems, and equipment
  • Safely handle and move large or sensitive hardware using overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment

QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Skills - Required
  • Mechanical aptitude with at least 1 year of hands-on experience using basic hand tools in a production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Experience using inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers
  • Basic computer skills including Outlook, Teams, and web-based systems

Technical Skills - Preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in aerospace, aviation, or a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ year of experience with precision cleaning or cleanroom operations
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, or fluid systems
  • Experience with inspection methods including visual and borescope

Physical & Schedule Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Frequent bending, lifting, climbing, and working in tight spaces
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs
  • Schedule flexibility required; ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed

BENEFITS
Firefly offers outstanding benefits including generous health, dental, and vision plans with low deductibles, parental leave, educational reimbursement, relocation assistance, short-term disability, and flexible PTO..
EXPORT COMPLIANCE
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations (ITAR), applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
