Portfolio Analyst – Entry Level

Location: Galleria Area – Houston, TX 77056

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually


Position Overview

Our client is a leading independent wealth management firm in Houston, serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. They are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Portfolio Analyst to join their growing team and build a strong foundation in wealth management operations.

This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate or professional with 0–2 years of experience in financial services, wealth management, operations, trading support, or a related field. The Portfolio Analyst will support trading operations, portfolio reporting, data management, compliance-related tasks, and client service workflows while working closely with advisors, portfolio management, client service, and operations teams.

The successful candidate will be organized, analytical, dependable, and comfortable managing recurring processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

Trading & Operations Support

  • Support the processing and execution of equity and fixed-income trades, including trade entry, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of trading activity and ensure processes follow firm policies and compliance requirements.
  • Complete recurring operational tasks, including monthly statement downloads, accommodation letters, class actions, and corporate actions.
  • Monitor new account margin requirements and escalate issues to the appropriate advisor, operations, or trading team.
  • Assist with quarter-end projects and special operational assignments.


Reporting & Data Management

  • Support Black Diamond data management, including reviewing data, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating corrections.
  • Prepare reports and client-ready materials for advisor and client meetings.
  • Assist with quarterly client reporting and specialty reporting requests.
  • Assist with preparation of Form 13F for compliance purposes.
  • Maintain accurate client account information and assist with resolving data-related issues.


Team & Client Service Support

  • Answer incoming phone calls, address routine requests, and appropriately route inquiries to the appropriate team member.
  • Collaborate with advisors, client service associates, portfolio management, and operations teams to ensure timely completion of client and internal requests.
  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and recurring responsibilities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Contribute to a professional, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of professional experience in financial services, wealth management, trading support, operations, client service, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage repetitive and process-oriented responsibilities with consistency and focus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional and confident when handling phone calls and client-related requests.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:

Series 65 or other industry certifications are not required. A willingness to learn the wealth management industry and develop professionally is highly valued.
