RESIDENT DIRECTOR - ENTRADA SCHOLARS PROGRAM
ENTRADA DATES:

SUMMARY
Entrada is a two-week residential academic experience for current high school seniors planning to attend Calvin University in the fall of their freshman year. The program is designed for students who believe education is a pathway to purpose and who are eager to grow in community with others from diverse backgrounds, stories, and perspectives while preparing to thrive at Calvin and beyond.
Through college-level coursework, campus living, mentorship, and structured co-curricular programming, Entrada supports students' academic readiness, personal growth, spiritual development, and leadership formation during their transition to college.
The Resident Director (RD) serves as a primary leader of the residential experience and is part of a team of two Resident Directors overseeing all residence hall functions for the Entrada Scholars Program. The RD provides vision, structure, and daily leadership for the residential community while ensuring a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered environment that fosters belonging, accountability, and growth.
The RD is responsible for planning, leading, supervising, and evaluating all residence life initiatives connected to the program. This includes supervising a team of eight to nine Resident Assistants, supporting up to approximately 60 Entrada Scholars, coordinating community-building efforts, and partnering closely with academic and student support staff.
The Resident Director also serves as the on-site responder for student emergencies, behavioral concerns, and parent communication, and provides overnight supervision and leadership within the residence hall.
This is a full-time, residential position. Resident Directors must live on campus for the duration of training, program implementation, and closing responsibilities (July 9-August 1). Due to the immersive nature of the role, Resident Directors may not work other jobs, take classes, or attend external commitments during this period.

5-6 Resident Assistants
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Run RA staff meetings to ensure program goals and student needs/issues are met

  • Implements evening and weekend programming in the areas of social, motivational, and spiritual development; supports the academic and emotional needs of students

  • Provides lead administrative functions for the Program during the weekdays and throughout each weekend and is live on-campus for the duration of the program beginning with RA training / orientation

  • Ensures that students and RAs understand and implement Entrada policies and procedures

  • Consults daily with the Academic Director to consider the needs of students and the complimentary functions of social, motivational, and/or spiritual developmental programming with that of academic developmental programming

  • Serves as a role model to Entrada scholars and residence staff

  • Works with the College Access staff on pre-program planning and post-program wrap-up as appropriate

- Special dietary needs/wants will be at the candidate's own expense.
- No visitors will be allowed on campus during the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Counseling, Education, Higher Education, or a related field is strongly preferred. A master's degree in student personnel, counseling, education, or a related field is also preferred.
Qualified candidates will have 1-2 years of full-time experience in summer youth programs or comparable leadership experience, along with demonstrated experience supporting students in a multicultural and residential setting.
Current Calvin University seniors may be considered for this role if they demonstrate exceptional leadership, strong familiarity with the Entrada program and Calvin's campus culture, and the maturity required to supervise peers and manage residential responsibilities. COMPENSATION:

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

DECISION MAKING/JUDGMENT
The responsibilities of this position typically involve projects and/or assignments that have considerable decision-making authority regarding procedures, plans, and schedules. In dealing with students almost twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week, this job is almost entirely independent. In moments of crisis, there may be procedures in place, but the Resident Director must be able to work independently.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The position requires regular participation with employees or customers, deals with items of a routine nature with occasional supervision. Participants use information and expertise to influence outcomes and solve problems.
