Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. COTALAND is an amusement park with over 30 attractions and experiences, including first-of-their-kind roller coasters.



The Costuming Supervisor plays a key supporting role in assisting the Creative Costume Manager and entertainment department with the daily operation of the Costume Department. This position provides direct supervision to costume personnel while ensuring costumes remain performance-ready, departmental standards are maintained, and entertainment operations receive timely wardrobe support. Working across multiple entertainment offerings—including stage productions, character experiences, seasonal events, media appearances, and special events—this role oversees costume construction, alterations, repairs, fittings, laundry operations, inventory management, and daily wardrobe support.


From coordinating staff schedules and administrative functions to supervising rehearsals, live show coverage, and operational workflows, the Costuming Supervisor ensures costumes are delivered on time, maintained to the highest quality standards, and support the overall guest experience. Through strong leadership, organization, and collaboration with Entertainment, Production, Technical Services, and other operational partners, this position ensures consistent follow-through on both creative and operational goals.

Requirements:

What you'll do:


  • Oversee the daily operation of the costume shop, wardrobe areas, laundry facilities, and costume storage locations.
  • Prepare weekly and daily staff schedules based on operational needs and review them with the Creative Costume Manager during weekly department meetings.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and prioritize departmental workload.
  • Supervise Lead Stitchers, Stitchers, Seamstresses, Costume Technicians, Wardrobe Attendants, Laundry Attendants, and Seasonal Costume Staff.
  • Perform advanced alterations, fittings, garment construction, costume repairs, reinforcement, and fabrication.
  • Operate industrial sewing equipment and specialty costume machinery.
  • Supervise daily laundry operations including industrial washers, dryers, ozone cabinets, steamers, presses, drying equipment, stain removal, deodorizing, and garment finishing.
  • Coordinate performer fittings and provide show coverage for rehearsals, performances, special events, backstage support, and quick changes.
  • Maintain costume inventory, repair logs, fitting records, laundry records, and departmental documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of fabrics, trims, sewing supplies, consumables, costume components, and shop equipment.
  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling records, repair documentation, inventory tracking, and daily operational reports.
  • Coach, mentor, and train costume staff on department standards, costume care, sewing techniques, laundry procedures, safety practices, and guest service.
  • Assist with vendor coordination, deliveries, product verification, and supply management at the direction of the Creative Costume Manager.
  • Collaborate with Entertainment, Production, Technical Services, Creative, Operations, and Performers.
  • Respond to costume emergencies and time-sensitive wardrobe requests.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in costume production, wardrobe supervision, themed entertainment, theatre, cruise ships, or live entertainment.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced garment construction, tailoring, fittings, alterations, and costume repair skills.
  • Experience operating industrial sewing and laundry equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and inventory systems.
  • Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, holidays, and seasonal peak periods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Theme Park, cruise ship, or theatrical production experience.
  • Experience with mascot and character costumes.
  • Knowledge of costume inventory systems.
  • Experience supervising and developing costume teams.
  • Familiarity with entertainment safety standards and backstage operations.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for basic layout, signage, or scenic reference needs


Physical Demand & Work Environments:

  • Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
