Job description

Job Description The client, a $200M+ Brooklyn based Non-Profit, is seeking a Director of Risk & Safety to lead a small team and own the enterprise risk management, insurance, safety, business continuity, and emergency preparedness programs. Responsibilities: Lead the organization-wide ERM program by identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks, maintaining the enterprise risk register, and delivering strategic risk reports to executive leadership and governance committees. Direct the commercial insurance program-including property, casualty, liability, and cyber-by managing broker relationships, leading annual renewals, optimizing budgets, and overseeing complex claims from investigation through resolution.

Develop and continuously improve organization-wide safety policies and training initiatives, identify workplace hazards, and lead internal incident reviews to reduce claim frequency and severity. Create, maintain, and test business continuity and emergency response plans to ensure organizational preparedness for severe weather, cyber events, and operational disruptions while leading post-incident reviews. Collaborate with legal counsel and business leaders to review contracts, leases, and vendor agreements, ensuring appropriate insurance requirements, indemnification, and liability limits are securely in place.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree with professional certification(s) such as ARM, CPRM, CRM, CSP, or similar Minimum of 10 years of experience within enterprise risk management, insurance, safety, continuity, or related Experience managing commercial insurance programs, claims administration, safety initiatives, and organizational risk assessments. Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex risks and develop practical mitigation strategies. Strong leadership skills with sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
