Certified Surgical Technologist

The posted compensation range of $26.37 - $39.90 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech you will:

  • Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
  • Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.

*Previous OR Experience highly preferred**

Day to Day duties:

  • Scrub on all cases.
  • Neuro, Gen, ENT, Bariatrics, Ortho (totals/trauma/sports med). Podiatry, Plastics, Pain management, breast surgery (reduction/augmentation). Will also see IV Therapy, endoscopy, Pre/Post Cath Lab
  • Associates are cross trained for all services, no specialized service Teams.
  • Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day's cases.
  • Maintain Sterile field during procedures.
  • Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon's needs.
  • Maintaining and updating preference cards.

10 OR Suites

Cases per Month- 350-400

Schedule: 40hrs/week Days-Variable shifts per surgical volume and unit needs.

Call Required: Approx.. 5-7 Call shifts per 6-week schedule

30Min Call back radius required.

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.
  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
