With state-of-the-art production facilities in Louisiana, we are strategically positioned to serve projects nationwide, ensuring critical infrastructure, reliability, and national security.
Position Summary
The Director of Engineering will lead and oversee the engineering department at Grid Structures, providing full design authority and strategic direction for all engineering activities. This role is responsible for managing a team of 3-5 Design Engineers, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with industry standards, and timely delivery of projects. The Director will serve as the primary decision-maker for engineering design and will collaborate closely with leadership, production, and clients to achieve organizational goals. This position will be located in Baton Rouge, LA.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Provide leadership and supervision to the engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
โ€ข Maintain full design authority for all structural products, including transmission poles, substation structures, and related components.
โ€ข Oversee structural analysis, design processes, and ensure adherence to industry codes and standards.
โ€ข Coordinate with drafting, detailing, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless execution of projects.
โ€ข Engage with customers and stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and resolve complex engineering challenges.
โ€ข Develop and implement engineering best practices, quality assurance protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives.
โ€ข Manage workload distribution, project timelines, and resource allocation to meet organizational objectives.
โ€ข Mentor and develop engineering staff, supporting professional growth and technical proficiency.
Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil ,or Structural preferred); advanced degree or PE license is a plus.
โ€ข Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in structural design and engineering leadership, preferably in the electric utility steel pole industry.
โ€ข Proven expertise in steel design, fabrication processes, welding procedures, and connection design.
โ€ข Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with structural analysis software.
โ€ข Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
โ€ข Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
