Primary Function

Amsted Automotives, Burgess-Norton division is seeking an experienced Engineering manager to support manufacturing and process engineering initiatives across our global operations. This role is responsible for driving process improvements, supporting new program launches, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, efficient manufacturing processes across multiple facilities.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing manufacturing and process engineering projects for cold form and finishing operations while supporting global grinding processes for piston pin production. This position partners with plant leadership and engineering teams to improve manufacturing capability, standardize processes, manage capital equipment projects, and drive continuous improvement across facilities in the United States, Mexico, and Italy.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage manufacturing and process engineering projects for Cold Form and Finishing operations.
  • Support and standardize global centerless grinding processes across manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop and maintain grinding wheel standards, coolant formulas, and blade designs to improve process consistency.
  • Establish end-of-line inspection standards, including evaluating automation opportunities and improving inspector training and procedures.
  • Support new product launches by providing process capability and capacity analysis as part of the Program Management process.
  • Evaluate manufacturing capabilities and provide recommendations for production location decisions.
  • Lead capital equipment projects from concept and justification through equipment installation, runoff, and production startup.
  • Assess existing production equipment and provide recommendations to improve capacity, capability, and overall efficiency.
  • Partner with plant management to ensure manufacturing processes meet customer requirements and support business growth initiatives.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing facilities.
  • Share engineering best practices across global operations to improve process consistency and performance.
  • Mentor site engineering teams and support the implementation of company continuous improvement programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Program Management.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support manufacturing operations and engineering initiatives.
QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Equivalent foreign degree evaluated by a qualified credential evaluation service will be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in an automotive OEM or automotive supplier manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with centerless grinding as a metal production process.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience applying analytical problem-solving methodologies.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience collaborating with international manufacturing teams.
Skills, Certifications, Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process engineering, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing capital equipment projects from planning through implementation.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and capacity.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional and global teams.
  • Ability to mentor engineering teams and share technical best practices.
