In the absence of the regular custodian, manintain the physical school buildings and grounds in a condition of operating excellence in order to provide quality education and a safe environment for all staff and students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in keeping assigned building and premises neat, clean, and safe at all times.
  • Help to regulate heat and electricity. Close windows, doors, and turn off unneeded lights and appliances.
  • While working a normal work schedule, check and report to the day engineer any unsafe situations that may be present that could cause a health or safety hazard.
  • Insure that all sidewalks, stairs, and exits are free of snow and ice during the winter months as conditions require.
  • Clean and maintain assigned work area as directed by the day engineer.
  • Assist with work assignments in another building when assigned.
  • Comply with local laws on procedures for storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, and flammable liquids.
  • Strive to improve knowledge of all custodial related jobs.
  • Follow safety procedures.
  • Dress in a neat and clean manner appropriate for the job.
  • Operate all types of power floor machines, scrubbers, wet and dry vacuums, and carpet maintenance machines.
  • Refill and make minor repairs and adjustments on dispensing machines.
  • Prompt, regular attendance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by day engineer or building principal.

QUALFICATIONS:
HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience preferred
