Job Description:

The Alpharetta, Georgia office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician for Construction Materials Testing, to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, and reinforcing steel
  • Preparation of reports documenting observations and test results
  • Communication with contractors and engineers to discuss observations and test results
  • Opportunities for advancement based on performance, work quality, ability to obtain NICET certifications, and ability to obtain post-secondary educational degrees

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High School degree
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills
  • Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations
  • Attentive to detail
  • Interest in working outdoors on construction sites
  • Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside
  • Prior experience on construction projects is preferred (2+ years)
  • Possess ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification, or be able to attain within three (3) months of start date
  • Completion of APNGA Nuclear Gauge Safety Class with U.S. DOT HAZMAT, or ability to complete within three (3) months of start date

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

The compensation range for an Engineering Technician is between $20/hr to $33/hr. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location
