Our F-35 Engineering Team is seeking a New Jersey Program Engineering Manager (PEM I) to support the business. This position will report indirectly to one of F-35 Product-Line Engineering Lead (PLEL) within the F-35 Solutions Product Line. This role is in a hybrid format working from Totowa / Wayne, New Jersey.
As a Program Engineering Manager you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery and support of these vital systems. This key leadership role will lead an engineering production team, ensuring on-time delivery of products to our customers through customer operations support, proactive obsolescence management, sustainment, and effective collaboration with suppliers.
Candidate should have the ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions; ability to understand opposing points of view on complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints. Have ability to organize and prioritize work schedules on both a short-term & long-term basis, both for self and others. ability to make decisions which have impact on the business; ability to develop complex concepts and plans and communicate them effectively through formal or informal presentations, either inside or outside the organization. Regular requirements to use written and oral communication skills; interact with managers, staff, co-workers and others encountered in the course of work; ability to compose materials such as detailed reports and work-related documents and communicate substantively about them either verbally or in writing; communicate interactively & make presentations effectively. The programs you work on may encompass all aspects of product delivery, from design and analysis, through integration, test, and delivery. In this job, you will:
  • Provide full technical, cost, and schedule leadership & ownership for assigned projects, collaborating with program management and customers while leading the engineering team.
  • Define & maintain project scope, budget, and timelines; proactively manage risk & opportunities; and ensure adherence to all processes and approvals.
  • Manage collaboration with resource managers, operations, quality, contracts, and finance to secure staffing, coordinate efforts, and drive program success.
  • Foster team building, personnel development, and a culture of inclusivity, safety, and well-being across all sites.
  • Independently plan and execute work in a fast-paced environment, exercising latitude in determining objectives and approaches.
  • Regularly report status to leadership, develop customer relationships, and manage budget/financial planning & reporting.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or Math
  • 4+ Years Experience working in Engineering or Production/Manufacturing
  • Active SECRET level of clearance (with ability to obtain SAP/SAR)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert knowledge of EVMS, program scheduling, staffing projections, and risk management.
  • Experience with proposal efforts; BOEs, and leading team through stakeholder reviews.
  • Experience leading cross functional/organizational teams and team building

Preferred Skills and Education
  • MBA or MS in related field
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams in Electronic Warfare products.
  • PMP Certification or Agile/Scrum experience
  • Experience with product development lifecycle for defense products
