Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc is seeking a Flight Test Engineering Intern this Fall 2026 at Edwards AFB, CA. The Flight Test Engineering Intern will be embedded within the USAF TPS at Edwards AFB, CA. The 412 TW is responsible for flight test across a variety of platforms in the DOD inventory, as well as host to several up-and-coming commercial projects utilizing the Edwards AFB facility and airspace.

The intern will be paired with MTSI employees to assist with day-to-day tasking on projects that will benefit the Air Force Test Center and Test Pilot School customer. The Flight Test Engineering Intern will gain a wide range of experience across Flight Test operations to include the control room and newly created Doolittle Labs. Qualifications Required: - Completion of relevant Aerospace Engineering coursework -Works well in a team environment as well as independently.

Skilled in making valued, trusted, defendable recommendations to leadership. -Experience with or knowledge of test plans, flight test mission material, post-mission & detailed final reports. -Previous Flight Test or DoD Lab Intern/Work Experience -Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers' requirements and needs.

Education Requirements: -Currently enrolled in an ABET Accredited Masters program in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or has obtained one previously. Desired Experience: -General Aviation flight and/or maintenance experience -Completion of core aerospace coursework -Completion of flight-test coursework (if offered) -Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with an emphasis on quality with minimal supervision Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance. Citizenship is required for this position. #MTSI The pay range for this position is $25/hour - $35/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
