Job description

Lead Assembler, Instrument - Salt Lake City, UT
Contractor | Up to $40/hr | Onsite | M-F, 8am-5pm
About the Role
Join a dynamic product development team as a Lead Assembler specializing in medical devices. This hands-on position bridges engineering and assembly, ensuring high-quality and efficient builds in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment. You'll guide and mentor a team, support process improvements, and play a key role in driving technical excellence and team success.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership, mentorship, and technical direction to assembly personnel
- Coordinate and prioritize assembly schedules, resources, and activities in alignment with engineering objectives
- Train and support assemblers to uphold best practices, safety, and quality standards
- Oversee equipment setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and process programming
- Ensure timely completion of engineering builds and accurate, compliant documentation
- Monitor product quality, perform inspections, and escalate issues as needed
- Communicate delays, shortages, and equipment concerns to engineers
- Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support development and process improvements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready lab workspace
Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain manufacturing or prototype equipment
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication abilities
- Able to perform physical tasks (lifting, standing, fine motor assembly)
Preferred Skills
- Experience in regulated manufacturing (medical devices preferred)
- Background in process improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and documentation standards
- Prior experience in training or mentoring teams
