Job description

Position Summary
Advanced Process Solutions LLC is seeking a Controls Engineer to provide in-house support for controls-related work across both our service and production operations. This role is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based control systems primarily on Allen-Bradley platforms and partners closely with production and field service teams to keep equipment running reliably and to support new installations and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Program, configure, and maintain PLC-based control systems (primarily Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation platforms) supporting both production and field service operations.
โ€ข Troubleshoot and resolve control system faults on production equipment and at customer/service sites to minimize downtime and support timely repairs.
โ€ข Design, modify, and test PLC logic, HMI screens, and SCADA applications to support new equipment installations, process changes, and continuous improvement projects.
โ€ข Develop and maintain electrical schematics, controls documentation, and standard operating procedures for control systems and automated equipment.
โ€ข Partner with production, service, and engineering teams to specify, integrate, and commission new controls of hardware and software.
โ€ข Travel Requirements: Up to 20% domestic travel for semiconductor fab commissioning, programming updates, and field maintenance
โ€ข Provide in-house technical support and training to production and service personnel on control system operation and basic troubleshooting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field) required; several years of hands-on experience with PLC programming and Allen-Bradley control systems.
PLC & Controls Programming
Proficient programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLCs (e.g., ControlLogix, CompactLogix); skilled in ladder logic, function block, and/or structured text.
HMI & SCADA
Experience developing, configuring, and maintaining HMI interfaces (e.g., FactoryTalk View) and SCADA systems.
Electrical & Mechanical
Systems Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings; working knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and industrial instrumentation.
Troubleshooting & Cross-Functional Support
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve controls issues across both service and production environments.
Travel & Work Environment
Willingness to travel to service/field sites as needed; ability to work in production and field environments, including occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. and wearing required PPE.
