Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI is hiring a Sr. Engineering Designer - Diver to join our team in Maryland!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct underwater inspections of various structures, including bridges, barges, piers, wharves, marinas, ports, bulkheads, and seawalls.
  • Perform condition inspections and quality control inspections for construction projects.
  • Engage in structural design and analysis of marine structures.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and oversee the plan development process from concept through final construction plans for new structures, rehabilitations, and repairs.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all facets of commercial diving and ADCI requirements for surface-supplied air diving.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering, design, analysis, and bridge condition inspection is highly desirable.
  • Experience with bridge, waterfront, and/or dam projects is preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proven project management experience with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Certification by the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) is required.
  • National Highway Institute (NHI) Bridge Inspection certification is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Travel up to 35% of the time is a requirement of this position
  • TWIC card is preferred.
  • Boating Safety Certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program Strong Proficiency in required design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Good communication and technical writing skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required: Ability to maintain required certifications

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) eligibility

Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
