The City of Napa is currently seeking two Engineering Aide/Senior Engineering Aide candidates to support important work in both Public Works and Utilities

Our Engineering Aides work in various divisions within the Public Works and Utilities Department, supporting engineering, construction, development, and infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking two (2) individuals to join our dynamic team in the following areas: Construction (Public Works): The Engineering Aide/Senior Engineering Aide will primarily be responsible for issuing Encroachment Permits and handling other duties such as reviewing and issuing Transportation Permits, review of minor traffic control plans, and performing monthly utility billing for utility encroachment permits.

CIP (Utilities): The Engineering Aide/Senior Engineering Aide will provide technical and field support for Capital Improvement Program projects. Responsibilities may include preparing basic plans and designs using AutoCAD, assisting with traffic control and GPS-related activities, collecting field measurements, and supporting the development and implementation of utility infrastructure projects. This position will work both in the office and in the field and may assist with inspections, measurements, calculations, and other project-related activities.

Ideal candidates for the role of Engineering Aide/Senior Engineering Aide will have shown success in demonstrating the following competencies: Technical Knowledge and Skill - Technical, functional, and/or professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise; using knowledge to accomplish results. Positions in these classifications are flexibly staffed. This position may be appointed at the Engineering Aide or Senior Engineering Aide level depending upon qualifications and experience.
