Description

Job Summary: 

Development of engineering design data within budget in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), customer and company standards of quality.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Provide technical support to complete various projects. 
  2. Research, prepare and review engineering data (drawings, plans / reports, work instructions, various manuals, etc.) in support of design assignments.
  3. Develop and produce design data required for the proper manufacture, assembly and installation of aircraft assemblies and components.
  4. Perform spring, fastener selections, tolerance studies, weight and cost studies or other assigned assessments.
  5. Develop preliminary engineering analysis necessary to substantiate components design and tolerance analysis.
  6. Interface with other departments to ensure customer & company requirements are met.
  7. Attend design review meetings with fellow staff.
  8. Provide technical support to Operations team during the manufacturing and assembly phases of developed designs.
  9. Support other Engineering groups as workload requirements dictate.
  10. Become familiar with and adhere to internal policies and procedures. 
  11. Provide input and suggestions for continuous improvement of various department procedures, controls, flows and systems.
  12. Work on complex design tasks with assistance.

Requirements

Job Qualifications: 

Minimum

  1. Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or related scientific field, or equivalent combination of experience and coursework.  
  2. Training and experience utilizing Solidworks (or comparable Computer Aided Design program) with demonstrable proficiency.
  3. Must possess knowledge of engineering principles used in stress analysis, finite element modeling (FEM), 3D-computer modeling, and other analytical substantiation techniques. 
  4. Must possess extensive knowledge of personal computer systems with Microsoft Office.
  5. Must possess good oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Preferred

  1. One (1) year industry experience in an engineering field, preferably dealing in the design of passenger aircraft.
  2. Basic knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes and related requirements.
  3. Basic knowledge of standard aircraft components, materials, fabrication practices, aviation hardware and proper application in design.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must possess ability to work in company and supplier production facilities.

a. Preference is for on-site work arrangement.

2. Must also be able to lift and carry 15 lbs. 

3. Must be able to sit and work effectively at a computer for extended periods of time.

4. Visual acuity must be a minimum of 20/40 corrected.

5. Position could require minimal domestic travel.
