Position Overview

We are hiring two Project Engineers to join our Lewiston, Maine facility.

These positions offer the opportunity to work on high-impact engineering initiatives supporting manufacturing operations, capital equipment installations, facility improvements, and process development. Depending on experience and career interests, candidates will join one of two engineering teams:

  • Project Engineer – Operations – Reporting to the Special Projects Manager within the Operations organization, this role focuses on capital projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, and operational improvements.
  • Project Engineer – Engineering – Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role focuses on manufacturing process development, equipment optimization, product introductions, and engineering-driven continuous improvement initiatives.

Both positions provide significant opportunities to lead projects from concept through implementation while working alongside Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects from concept through commissioning, including planning, design, procurement, installation, startup, and validation
  • Develop project scopes, engineering packages, equipment specifications, layouts, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage contractors, vendors, equipment procurement, and project timelines to ensure successful execution
  • Support the installation, modification, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production processes
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance and equipment reliability
  • Lead new equipment qualifications and support APQP activities for new product and process launches
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, throughput, quality, and operational efficiency through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain project documentation while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and company procedures

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline required
  • 3–7 years of engineering or project management experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading capital equipment, facility, manufacturing, or process improvement projects preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, metallurgy, heat transfer, or advanced materials is highly desirable
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Project, and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment preferred
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations, electrical codes, engineering drawings, P&IDs, and instrumentation diagrams
  • Strong project management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
