Senior Designer/Drafter

Location: Hanover, MD
Company: [Confidential]
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Remote Friday
Compensation: $40-$60 an hour (depending on experience)

U.S. Citizenship is required.

SolidWorks experience is required.

About the Opportunity

[Confidential] is seeking experienced Senior Designer/Drafters to support a growing engineering project team. Due to increased project demand, we are adding four professionals with strong SolidWorks expertise to help convert existing 3D models into detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and revise engineering drawings from existing 3D models.
  • Develop part and assembly-level CAD models using Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks.
  • Work closely with engineers and senior designers to implement drawing revisions and redline updates.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing personnel to make real-time design updates.
  • Verify technical accuracy, completeness, and quality of engineering drawings.
  • Produce detailed layouts and manufacturing drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Support design efforts for mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Select appropriate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) electrical and mechanical components when required.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, quality standards, and manufacturability expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of CAD design and drafting experience.
  • Associate degree in Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • Formal training in Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks.
  • Advanced proficiency with:
    • SolidWorks Routing
    • Sheet Metal
    • Weldments
    • Product Data Management (PDM)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards.
  • Experience in mechanical design and manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with Military Standards and engineering documentation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • CNC machining
    • Sheet metal fabrication
    • Welding and manufacturing processes

Compensation: $40-$60 an hour (depending on experience
