Job description

Join the Transportation Engineering Systems (TESS) team where you'll directly influence how Amazon's transportation network operates at scale. As a Program Manager on the Transportation Engineering Systems (TESS) team, you will learn how Amazon's proprietary transportation systems make decisions to move packages from the fulfillment network to customers. You will manage system configuration changes that control those systems, working directly with business leaders and program teams to create new transportation flows and design configurations that execute at scale. In this role, you will execute network design changes, dive deep into package flows, troubleshoot system errors, identify process improvements, and build automation, analytics, and reporting capabilities leveraging AI. You will lead stakeholder meetings, manage projects, and contribute to doc writings for the team.
Key job responsibilities
-Manage system configuration changes across Amazon's proprietary transportation systems to support new and existing package flows
-Track program milestones and communicate status to business leaders and stakeholders
-Execute network design changes end-to-end, coordinating with business leaders and program teams to ensure timely delivery
-Dive deep into package flow data to troubleshoot system errors, identify root causes, and implement fixes
-Identify process improvement opportunities and build automation to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy
-Develop analytics and reporting capabilities leveraging AI to drive data-driven decision-making
-Proactively identify and mitigate risks in system configurations before they impact customers
-Document processes, standard operating procedures, and configuration playbooks for the team.
-Contribute to additional doc writing such as QBR, MBR, and Lessons Learned.
A day in the life
Your daily execution responsibilities will come via an intake queue which generates work tickets assigned to you. There could be a variety of audit and reporting duties as well. You will review dashboards and metrics that track transportation network performance, identifying opportunities for optimization. Throughout the day, you'll attend or facilitate meetings with cross-functional teams-from operations managers to software engineers-ensuring alignment on priorities and removing roadblocks. You'll work autonomously to solve ambiguous problems, whether that's defining requirements for a new system feature or analyzing why a particular network configuration isn't performing as expected. Your work directly influences decisions about how Amazon moves packages from fulfillment centers to customers' doorsteps.
About the team
The Transportation Engineering Systems (TESS) team sits at the critical intersection of Amazon's business operations and technical infrastructure. We're responsible for configuring and optimizing the transportation network that powers Amazon's logistics operations globally. Our team culture values data-driven decision-making, customer obsession, and innovative problem-solving. We work collaboratively across organizational boundaries, partnering with operations teams, software engineers, and business leaders to deliver solutions that scale. As part of TESS, you'll contribute to systems that impact millions of customer deliveries while working with talented professionals who are passionate about operational excellence.
