Job Description:
 
Position Summary:
The Senior Environmental Engineer will oversee engineering operations, lead complex projects, and support company-wide environmental initiatives. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role combines technical execution, project management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical & Engineering Duties.
  • Lead engineering services involving civil, environmental, and industrial wastewater systems.
  • Conduct design analysis, prepare cost estimates, and develop design packages (drawings, specifications, and construction documents).
  • Oversee construction administration and fieldwork to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Manage state and federal environmental permitting — including NJDEP, PADEP, and regulatory agencies for wastewater discharge, soil erosion, sediment control, and site planning.
  • Demonstrate expertise with federal environmental and safety regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, OSHA, and TSCA.
  • Direct concurrent environmental projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review and approve project deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
  • Develop feasibility studies and remedial design cost estimates for Superfund, brownfield, and contaminated site remediation projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports, drawings, and operation/maintenance plans.
  • Maintain project budgets and schedules to ensure financial and operational goals are met.

Management & Leadership Duties:
  • Supervise and mentor project engineers, field staff, and technical teams.
  • Oversee staff development, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Partner with marketing and business development leaders to support local growth strategies.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and regulatory discussions.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards for quality control, utilization, and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and internal offices to ensure smooth project delivery.

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 15+ years of progressive environmental engineering experience.
  • 6+ years in leadership or management roles within environmental consulting or engineering.
  • New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) License required.

Required Technical Skills:
  • Experience in landfill design, wastewater treatment, and groundwater remediation.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation, proposals, and project budgeting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER requirements and certifications.
  • Ability to travel throughout PA, NJ, and NY for field assignments and client meetings.

Preferred Skills:
  • Strong project management and client relationship abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project); experience with GIS, MicroStation, or AutoCAD a plus.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving project needs.

Work Environment
  • On-site role based in Lebanon, NJ.
  • Combination of office and field work at various project sites.
