Overview

Are you a Geotechnical Engineer looking to make a significant impact on our projects? As a Geotechnical Engineer in our Construction Engineering Group, you will develop, analyze, and implement geotechnical design of temporary works for projects across the US & Canada. You will identify geotechnical considerations, formulate recommendations, and develop safe and economical designs that are compatible with contract documents, specifications and regulatory requirements.

The Construction Engineering Group focuses on the "how" when it comes to constructing the work. This team of specialized engineers has extensive experience in designing and constructing various temporary works.

What you will be doing
  • Provide constructability and technical design input on temporary works construction designs to ensure compliance with contract specifications and regulatory requirements throughout all phases of a project lifecycle from procurement, design, construction and delivery.
  • Designs and drafts construction means and methods for temporary works (pile-supported trestles and other structures, shoring, slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, falsework, formwork, groundwater management, materials, etc.), ensuring completeness and accuracy with regulatory standards and within the contract specifications. 
  • Review personal and peer design elements to optimize project constructability, cost effectiveness and material quantities.
  • Review and interpret project geotechnical data and design reports and contractual plans and specifications. 
  • Submit design for peer review or approval review in an accurate and timely manner to avoid construction delays on the project site. Senior engineer or manager to seal designs following approval review.    
  • Provide input for supplemental geotechnical explorations and laboratory testing with regard to specific project needs and considerations.  
What we are looking for
  • Masters' Degree in Geotechnical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering License (P.ENG) required.
  • 10+ years experience in design and/or construction of infrastructure projects preferred.   
  • Understanding of fundamental soil mechanics principles.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software including for slope stability (e.g. SLOPE/W, SLIDE), settlement (e.g. Settle3D), shoring and other earth retention structures (e.g. Shoring Suite, PYWALL), deep foundation (e.g. APILE, SHAFT, LPILE) and pile driving analyses (e.g. GRLWEAP). 
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, RISA suite, LARSA and MathCAD are a plus.  
  • Knowledge and skill in technical writing for clear and efficient communication  
  • Knowledge and understanding of constructability and construction practices.  
  • Ability to multi-task and self-prioritize work.  
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills required. 

This is an estimated salary range. Compensation for the succesful candidate will be determined and based upon factors including their qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience as well as physical work location and internal equity.
