Job description

Description

At DCCM, we are building the future of Texas communities by designing and delivering critical public infrastructure that strengthens cities, enhances mobility, and protects natural resources. From roadway and drainage improvements to water, wastewater, and utility systems, our Public Works group provides innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions that make a lasting difference for municipalities, counties, and regional agencies across Texas.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) to join our Public Works Department in Houston, TX. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and production of municipal infrastructure projects, including roadways, drainage systems, utilities, and site improvements. Working under the guidance of licensed engineers and project managers, you'll gain hands-on experience in all phases of project development-helping deliver innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions that enhance communities across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and drafting of public infrastructure projects, including roadway, drainage, water, and wastewater systems.
  • Prepare and update engineering plans, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Perform engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, and technical analyses.
  • Collaborate with internal design teams and regulatory agencies to ensure quality and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support project coordination efforts, including scheduling, document control, and permitting assistance.
  • Conduct field visits and assist with construction observation, data collection, and record documentation.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to project objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 0-3 years of experience in civil or municipal infrastructure design preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
  • Familiarity with City of Houston, Harris County, and TxDOT design standards a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Motivated to learn, collaborate, and grow toward professional licensure (P.E.).

Why Join DCCM?

At DCCM, we do more than design infrastructure-we build resilient systems that support public health, environmental quality, and economic growth. As a leader in civil engineering, we offer an opportunity to make a real difference while growing professionally.

We offer:

  • Comprehensive Benefits - Including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and maternity leave.
