Job description

This position is for an individual who enjoys working with other employees in a challenging role to make quality paper at a competitive cost. It also allows for personal growth both as a leader and in technical areas of paper manufacturing. The person in this role is integral to the overall success of Paper Machine as well as the Somerset Mill and is a key member of the management team.
  • As a key member of the Paper Machine team, you will lead safety initiatives that ensure an accident-free and safe workplace.
  • You will lead your team's efforts to deliver machine productivity goals at low cost, meet all environmental regulations and continuously improve operational efficiency.
  • You will manage the day-to-day operations and lead the shift crew with effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork and administrative skills to meet site objectives.
  • You will work in conjunction with maintenance personnel to ensure equipment uptime, reliability and asset life in your area of responsibility.

Performance Objectives
  • Meet or exceed departmental safety and environmental objectives.
  • Meet or exceed targeted paper production, quality, and cost of manufacture goals.
  • Manage a diverse, highly skilled workforce in a team-oriented, self-directed environment to meet the business needs of the organization.
  • Develop good working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization in both operations and maintenance departments.

Entry requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or another related engineering field, or equivalent
  • 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through people
  • Strong Safety Leadership
