Job description

Job Summary:
Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Automation Engineer with strong expertise in automation frameworks and programming skills. The ideal candidate will play a key role in test automation strategy, implementation, and offshore team leadership while collaborating closely with Agile teams.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and reusable automation frameworks using Selenium and Playwright
• Implement automated test solutions for UI, API, and regression testing
• Drive automation best practices including code reusability, maintainability, and CI/CD integration
• Review automation code and ensure adherence to coding standards and testing guidelines
• Develop automation solutions using Java, TypeScript, and Python
• Leverage object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and clean coding practices
• Integrate automation solutions with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Perform backend and database validations using SQL queries
• Validate data integrity across systems and ensure end-to-end test coverage
• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot data-related defects
• Manage test cases, execution cycles, and test artifacts using Micro Focus ALM Octane (or similar test repository tools)
• Ensure effective defect lifecycle management, including triage, root cause analysis, and resolution tracking
• Provide quality metrics and dashboards to stakeholders
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
• Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, and DevOps teams to ensure quality at every stage of development
• Advocate for shift-left testing and continuous quality improvement
• Lead and mentor offshore/onshore QA team members
• Assign work, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of testing outcomes
• Provide technical guidance, resolve complex automation challenges, and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions
• Establish best practices and improve overall team productivity and automation coverage
• Utilize GitHub Copilot to improve development efficiency, code quality, and automation speed
• Explore and implement AI-assisted testing approaches where applicable
• Contribute to or experiment with AI agents, intelligent test generation, or self-healing automation concepts
Qualifications:
Required:
• 6+ years of experience in QA Automation Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with Selenium and Playwright
• Solid programming skills in Java, TypeScript, and Python
• Strong SQL skills for database testing and validation
• Experience using ALM Octane (or similar test management tools)
• Proven experience in defect management and Agile methodologies
• Experience leading and working with offshore QA teams
• Hands-on experience using GitHub Copilot
• BACHELOR OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
Preferred:
• Experience with API automation (REST, GraphQL)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Knowledge or hands-on experience in building AI agents or AI-driven automation solutions
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Certifications in QA, Agile, or Cloud technologies
