Machine Repair Mechanical Maintenance

Location: Grand Haven, MI

Engine Power Components manufactures the heart of the internal combustion engine—camshafts—for customers around the world. Our Grand Haven facility utilizes hundreds of CNC machine tools and automated manufacturing equipment to produce precision components for the automotive, industrial, aftermarket, and heavy-duty industries.

We are seeking an experienced Machine Repair Journeyman / Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team. This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment reliability by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and repairing production machinery to minimize downtime and support world-class manufacturing.

A State of Michigan Machine Repair Journeyman Certification is strongly preferred. Candidates with equivalent industrial machine repair experience are encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, grinders, machining centers, conveyors, and other production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and power transmission systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore machines to safe operating condition while minimizing production downtime.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and equipment drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Disassemble, repair, rebuild, and reassemble production machinery and equipment.
  • Install, align, adjust, and maintain bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, ball screws, linear guides, conveyors, and other mechanical components.
  • Perform precision alignments and verify repairs using common measuring instruments.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Electrical Maintenance personnel to quickly resolve equipment issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Inspect, install, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical components as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders within the maintenance system.
  • Safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and other maintenance equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and confined space requirements.
  • Comply with all Engine Power Components policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience repairing industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and performing machine alignments.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer drug screen, alcohol test, criminal background check, and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • State of Michigan Machine Repair Journeyman Certification.
  • Five or more years of industrial machine repair experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience maintaining CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, transfer lines, and automated production equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience and the ability to work alongside Electrical Maintenance personnel.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally move components weighing up to 100 pounds or more using appropriate lifting equipment or with team assistance.
  • Frequently Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in varying positions throughout the shift.
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hoist, aerial lifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform rigging equipment moves using approved lifting devices.
  • Work at heights, around moving machinery, oils, coolants, and industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime and respond to emergency equipment repairs as needed.
