Job description

Job Summary:

Operates machines and production equipment independently in accordance with quality and productivity requirements safely in a manufacturing environment and may instruct or coach others.

We are looking for a talented Engine Painter - Production Associate  to join our manufacturing team in (Commerce City, CO (Henderson)).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Prepare, mask, prime, and paint High Horsepower (HHP) engines to quality standards
  • Operate painting equipment and ensure proper application of coatings
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on paint equipment and paint booths
  • Use overhead cranes to move and stage engines throughout the painting process
  • Conduct quality inspections and identify non-conforming materials
  • Support production goals while maintaining a safe and organized work area
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures

Painter job description

Job responsibilities:

  • Inspect surfaces, mask, prep specific areas for painting.
  • Monitor material inventory and cost-effectively buy painting materials (e.g., paint, primer, masking material)
  • Mix paint to achieve the correct color and texture
  • Prime surfaces and paint engines to desired thickness level.
  • Follow workplace health and safety rules
  • Load and unload tools and equipment from work areas
  • Maintain a clean, tidy work area 
  • Work well with peers, teammates, and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Coordinate service and handle feedback professionally
  • Accurately clock in and out of time management system daily
  • Manage job details, review daily tasks, and follow up with team leads and supervisors


Qualifications and skills:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience as an automotive engine painter or relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of automotive painting techniques on various metals including iron, aluminum, steel, and cast
  • Comfortable using different painting tools on various surfaces (e.g., spray equipment)
  • Familiar with color theory principles
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations and convert measurements
  • Physically able to sit, stand, kneel, lift, and climb ladders
  • Strong planning, organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Great attention to detail, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
  • Can work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Can communicate  
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Friendly with good interpersonal skills

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 
Experience: 
Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
