Job description

Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven professional to ensure the accuracy of data entry in our Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system's data. This role is critical in verifying that all executed trades are accurately reflected between our internal systems and counterparties, and in maintaining the ETRM as the single source of truth for commercial activity. This position sits on our Credit and Risk Team.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Confirmation & Reconciliation
  • Review trade confirmations received from counterparties and validate them against trades recorded in the ETRM system
  • Verify key commercial terms including counterparty, commodity, volume, price, location, and delivery period
  • Identify discrepancies between counterparty confirmations and internal trade records
  • Work with traders, schedulers, and counterparties to investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Track outstanding confirmations and exceptions through resolution
  • Maintain accurate documentation and appropriate audit trails
ETRM Data Integrity
  • Review and maintain trade information within the ETRM system
  • Ensure trades are entered completely and accurately and that subsequent changes are properly reflected
  • Perform routine checks to identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent trade information
  • Investigate data exceptions and coordinate corrections with the appropriate internal teams
  • Help ensure the ETRM remains an accurate and current source of trade information for downstream processes
Credit & Risk Support
  • Assist with daily and periodic Credit & Risk reporting and controls
  • Monitor and track exceptions requiring follow-up or escalation
  • Support the accuracy of information used for credit exposure, risk, P&L, settlement, and other reporting
  • Assist the Credit & Risk Team with data analysis and reporting as needed
  • Develop an understanding of the company's credit and risk policies, controls, and commercial activities
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with traders, schedulers, accounting, settlements, and other internal teams to resolve trade-related questions
  • Communicate with external counterparties regarding confirmation discrepancies when necessary
  • Respond to questions regarding trade records and supporting information
  • Identify recurring issues or opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of existing processes

Why This Role Matters
This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of our trading activity, reducing operational risk and enabling reliable financial and risk reporting. The individual in this position will play a key role in building scalable processes and establishing the ETRM system as a trusted source of truth across the organization.
Job Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred
  2. 0-3 years of relevant professional experience
  3. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  4. Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  5. Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate their cause, and follow issues through resolution
  6. Comfortable working with detailed and sometimes repetitive information
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (coding is not needed)
  9. Ability to learn new systems and understand how data flows between business processes
