Job purpose

The Cultural SME for Energy provides expert research, analysis, educational content, briefings, and scenario support concerning energy-related cultural, social, military, political, economic, and geopolitical dynamics.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide expert analysis on cultural, social, military, and political factors, highlighting key trends and potential implications.
  • Develop briefing materials and reports on cultural dynamics and strategic interests to inform organizational initiatives and decision-making.
  • Conduct research on historical and contemporary cultural issues, summarizing key insights for stakeholders.
  • Support the development of educational and training materials focused on regional cultural awareness and geopolitical dynamics.
  • Deliver presentations and briefings to staff on cultural norms, societal trends, and potential risks or opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze media, government publications, and open-source materials to provide timely updates on cultural and geopolitical shifts.
  • Support scenario planning exercises, offering cultural insights and expertise to simulate responses and predict potential outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying cultural factors that could impact security, economic interests, or diplomatic relations.
  • Provide analysis on cultural and societal aspects, including how policies or trends influence stability and cooperation.
  • Support organizational understanding of cultural risks and mitigations by providing strategic insights.
  • Stay informed on emerging cultural and geopolitical developments, continuously updating their expertise and resources.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in energy security, energy markets, and related cultural, social, military, political, economic, and geopolitical issues.

Education

  • Master's degree in related field.

Years of Relative Work Experience:

  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience analyzing geopolitical, cultural, military, economic, or social issues.

Clearance:

  • Minimum Tier 1 background investigation and Government-access eligibility are required; an active Secret clearance is required before supporting classified events or tasks.
