Job Description

Lead Complex Nuclear Facility Construction
TRISO-X is a first-of-its-kind nuclear fuel fabrication facility which will be manufacturing TRISO coated-particle fuel. The Construction Project Engineer III is a technical leader responsible for executing the full lifecycle of nuclear facility construction projects-translating design intent into built reality while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance at every stage. This role will bridge the gap between process / mechanical design and physical construction, working with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, superintendents, schedules, budgets, and compliance with strict regulatory safety standards. The position requires expertise in heavy industrial facilities, process systems, mechanical equipment installation, piping, HVAC, and related plant systems.
This is a high-impact technical position requiring both strategic project thinking and deep hands-on expertise in nuclear or heavy industrial construction environments.


Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Coordination: Interpret design drawings and specifications, translating engineering deliverables into actionable Construction Work Packages (CWPs) for field personnel.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all field activities strictly adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) guidelines, regulatory codes, and quality assurance plans.
  • Material & Quantity Control: Oversee the receipt, inspection, and storage of field-procured materials. Track weekly construction quantities and validate progress against the project budget.
  • Issue Resolution: Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and field changes, performing trend analyses to mitigate risks that could impact schedules or costs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between superintendents, external design consultants, project controls, and the client.
  • System Turnover: Coordinate with the Startup team to smoothly transition completed systems from construction into operational handover.
  • Assist with growing and developing junior team members.
  • Additional tasks as delegated by the Project Manager / Director.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: Typically, 5+ years of experience in heavy construction or nuclear engineering.
  • Experience in mechanical equipment installation, process systems, piping, HVAC in industrial or nuclear environments, strongly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with nuclear facility requirements beneficial, Department of Energy (DOE) orders, the Nuclear Regulatory Committee (NRC), or commercial nuclear standards.
  • Understanding of ASME B31.1, ASME Section III, and mechanical code requirements.
  • Skills: Strong communication, risk management, and the ability to interpret complex engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with P6 or equivalent schedule software preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent cad software preferred.

  • When working on an active construction site, may work in rough or uneven terrain.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting.

Compensation

Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual's qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:

$110,000- $130,000
