Make your mark in Risk Engineering

AIG's worldwide network of risk engineers work with clients, brokers and underwriters to help identify and improve risk globally for various energy sectors, including but not limited to: Power Generation, Renewable Energy, Oil and Petroleum, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Upstream and Mining. AIG's experience, tools, guidelines and training elevate AIG to a leader in the industry, allowing us to better understand client risk and contribute specialized knowledge to help in identifying and mitigating risks.

How you will create an impact

Energy Risk Engineers are responsible for conducting loss control surveys, managing power generation accounts as an account engineer, working with underwriters, clients, and brokers to help identify and improve risk for various energy sectors, including but not limited to: Power Generation and Renewable Energy. The Energy Risk Engineers are integral in allowing AIG to better understand exposures and contribute specialized knowledge to help in identifying and mitigating risks.This position is home-based with fieldwork conducted at insured facilities.

  • Perform loss control inspections, desk top reviews, and account reviews for a wide range of Energy accounts

  • Determine key loss prevention attributes at various energy facilities

  • Evaluate hazards associated with various types of turbine generators, power generations equipment and renewable technology

  • Evaluate overall Management Programs and Maintenance Programs

  • Evaluate business interruption exposures including Contingent Business Interruption (CBI) and Interdependencies Business Interruption (IBI)

  • Determine building construction and assess construction characteristics as applicable

  • Analyze water supplies and sprinkler system demands to determine water supply and sprinkler system adequacy

  • Identify occupancy hazards and assess the adequacy of their protection features

  • Identify and assess the impact of external exposures on a facility

  • Determine fire and natural catastrophe loss estimates for a facility

  • Conduct consultative visits at customer facilities

  • Conduct plan reviews

  • Document survey results in a data-driven report writing application

  • Mentor and train lesser experienced staff

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

  • Minimum five (5)years of industry experience in Power Generation and Renewable Energy

  • Fluent in English and Spanish

  • Knowledge of a wide range of occupancies, exposuresper best business practices

  • Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, exercise influence, and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions

  • Superb verbal and written communication skills

  • Position is expected to travelandattend meetings at various offices, fields, plants, facilities and construction sites. Approximately 50% travel through year - predominantly in the US and Latin America countries

Hard Skills:

  • Industry experience with real world knowledge of the challenges in the Energy sectors.

  • Ability to perform inspections of Energy and Construction facilities, both visually and with instruments.

  • Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials.

  • Possess at minimum of at least one year of driving experience with a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical activitiesrequiredfor the position (i.e., be onfeetandwalking8-10 hours a day, safely work at heights).

  • Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific tonumerousworkplace and construction hazards.

  • Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts and other access equipment.

  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to perform work in the outdoors.

  • Ability to wear safety equipment required for the position (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection).

  • Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations.

  • Ability to type at a computer for several hours a day.

  • Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
