Job description

Reporting to the Corporate Director, Innovation, you will be part of the Innovation team and actively contribute to the development and deployment of innovative energy solutions across Agnico Eagle's operations. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and advancing solutions related to energy generation, storage, and management, with a particular focus on alternative and renewable energy sources. You will contribute to the development of strategic projects aimed at reducing the Company's carbon footprint, securing energy supply, and improving overall energy performance. You will also support various groups in the integration of energy-related technologies and initiatives.

Specifically, you will:

  • Conduct technology monitoring and market assessments of existing and emerging energy technologies;

  • Evaluate energy generation and storage technologies such as:

    • Nuclear (vSMR)

    • Solar

    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

    • Wind

    • Alternative fuels (renewable diesel, biomass, hydrogen, etc.)

    • Other technologies;

  • Conduct techno-economic analyses and comparative studies to assess solution viability;

  • Participate in the preparation of technical studies (preliminary, pre-feasibility, and feasibility) and presentations;

  • Develop business models, deployment strategies, and integration scenarios;

  • Contribute to the structure and advancement of pilot projects involving identified technologies;

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful solution integration;

  • Support operations in the implementation of selected solutions;

  • Contribute to corporate strategic discussions related to energy and the energy transition;

  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners (suppliers, research center's, institutions);

  • Document and structure innovation initiatives related to energy projects.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field;

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in energy project management;

  • Experience in energy technology assessment, project development, or techno-economic analysis;

  • Strong understanding of energy systems (generation, storage, and distribution);

  • Experience in the mining industry (considered a strong asset);

  • Proficiency in English, as the role involves collaboration with Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary working language.

Your work scheduleย :

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday; possibility of a 5-2/4-3 work schedule;

  • Work Location: Opportunity to work from one of Agnico Eagle's offices closest to your residence, including Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or, or Mirabel. A hybrid work arrangement may be available, allowing employees to work some days from an Agnico Eagle office and some days remotely.
