Job description

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Custodial Site Supervisor, the Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned buildings clean and in an orderly condition and to perform related general cleaning as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  2. Sweep, mops floor, vacuum carpets, washes windows and walls as needed.
  3. Clean desks, tables and countertops, empty/clean waste receptacles, clean and disinfect restrooms; replenishes and maintains restroom supplies.
  4. Sweep and removes debris from parking lots.
  5. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as  mandated by state law.
  6. May be assigned other duties as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not directly supervise others.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other's reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • High energy, positive and enthusiastic outlook.
  • Self-directed, with strong ability to work independently, and to set and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to set priorities, follow through to completion of tasks, work well under pressure, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred:  High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year verifiable work experience in the custodial field.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to tolerate slight to extreme indoor and outdoor temperatures.
