About the role

DNV Energy Systems' Renewables and Power Grids group is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our Measurements team. The primary function of this position is to support construction crews in installations and maintenance of meteorological stations including met masts, lidars, and solar monitoring stations. You will work with clients regularly, providing them with quality measurement and maintenance campaigns and building genuine relationships as part of one of the most respected independent consultancies in the world.

This role is based at our DNV office in Seattle, WA, Portland, OR. While tied to a specific location, we will consider qualified candidates in other U.S. locations such as San Diego, CA, Oakland, CA, Austin, TX, Houston, TX, or Medford, MA. What You'll Do

In this role, you'll help deliver high‑quality wind and solar measurement campaigns by coordinating subcontractors, customer priorities, and technical inputs, ensuring work is completed safely and meeting customer expectations. Your work will focus on planning, coordination, technical judgment, and clear communication.

Primary responsibilities (85%-100% of working hours)

• Act as project manager for meteorological station installations and service campaigns, including:
  • Serve as key point of contact for customers, helping translate technical requirements into clear plans and maintaining strong, trusted relationships throughout the project.
  • Organize and oversee subcontractor schedules and mobilizations for on-site installation and commissioning of equipment, often with last‑minute changes.
  • Remotely support technical troubleshooting (meteorological sensors, data acquisition systems, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to resolve issues in a time‑critical manner.
  • Safely complete projects by ensuring work is planned and executed in accordance with DNV safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Consult, design, procure, and prepare instrumentation suites for measurements.
  • Monitor data, author, and review technical plans and reports.
• Coordinate delivery of all the Section's projects with priorities:
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Timeliness, quality, and on‑budget of deliverables.
  • Uncovering opportunities to add value.

Field Engagement (optional but preferred, 0%-15% of working hours)

• Observe or support inspection, verification, and commissioning of measurement systems.
• Climb wind turbines and meteorological masts.
• Troubleshoot data acquisition systems and sensors.

Additional tasks may include but are not limited to:

• Support business development through lead generation and proposal writing.
• Develop tools and processes to continuously improve quality, safety, and value delivered to customers.
• Attend and participate in regional, departmental, section, and lunch & learn meetings.
• Attend and participate in internal and external safety, IT, and management trainings.

About you What is Required

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental or atmospheric science, or related degree.
• Minimum of three (3+) years' experience managing field crews and related project management experience.
• Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, or safety.
• Curiosity and interest in digital tools, data systems, and emerging technologies, with a willingness to explore and adopt new solutions.
• Attention to detail / curiosity for real answers from data (how, why, what, when).
• Strong overall Microsoft suite skills and ability to learn multiple software tools.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, typing, sitting, and interacting with computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) most of the day.
• Normal office environment, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and reaching.
• Ability to occasionally air travel to wind and solar sites, other offices, and conferences (up to 15% annually, sometimes long distance).
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to rent and drive a car and travel on public conveyances when required.
• Ability to travel by car up to six hours and walking on uneven terrain.
• We conduct pre‑employment drug and background screening.

What is Preferred

• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a consulting environment.
• Interest in growing into leadership roles within the organization.

DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 - $140,000 USD.
