Job description

About the Role:

The Engineering Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of all engineering systems within a hotel property. This position is responsible for assisting with the overseeing of the engineering team to maintain the safety, functionality, and aesthetic quality of the building’s infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. The supervisor will help with the development and implementation of the preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. Additionally, this role involves coordinating with other hotel departments to support guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Engineering Supervisor ensures that all engineering activities comply with regulatory standards and contribute to a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance or engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within the hospitality or accommodation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems relevant to hotel operations.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental compliance standards applicable in the United States.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Flexibility with schedule: working evenings, weekends and holidays as operation demands and as scheduled. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Hotel Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Certification such as Certified Hotel Engineer (CHE) or similar professional credentials.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and energy management systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green technologies.
  • Strong project management experience, particularly in hotel renovation or large-scale maintenance projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists as Supervisor to lead the engineering team in daily maintenance and repair tasks across all hotel facilities.
  • Develop, schedule, and monitor preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoot complex technical issues to minimize disruption.
  • Coordinate with hotel management and other departments to plan and execute renovation projects and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards through regular inspections and staff training.
  • Manage inventory of engineering supplies and equipment and oversee vendor relationships for outsourced services.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicates confidently and promptly with both, hotel guests, employees, vendors and management.
  • Performs other duties which he/she has been trained for as needed and requested.
