Full-time

In-Office | Toronto, ON, Canada

This posting is for a newly created position

Salary range $120,000 - 150,000

This role will lead the energy management analytics function within PowerON, developing and delivering data-driven insights that unlock the full value of PowerON's fleet electrification portfolio. You will oversee energy modelling, market analytics, performance reporting, and data infrastructure across EV charging, battery storage, and grid services programs — supporting both project economics and live operational asset optimization. Your work will directly inform product development, market participation strategy, and the transition to a clean energy economy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analytics & Modelling

  • Manage a team responsible for the interpretation of value stack across EMS project configurations, including EV charging, BESS, solar PV, and grid services

  • Accountable for energy modelling, system sizing, and economics for electrification and storage projects

  • Work with the energy management team to track relevant tariffs, incentive programs, market rules, and regulatory developments across IESO and other applicable energy markets

  • Lead GHG reduction analysis, tracking, and reporting across the portfolio

  • Develop and ensure proper implementation of performance benchmarks, KPI frameworks, and operational dashboards to monitor asset and program outcomes

Reporting & Data Management

  • Present models, analysis, and strategic recommendations to leadership and external stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner

  • Build and maintain reporting products for internal teams, clients, and market participants — including dashboards, automated reports, and performance summaries

  • Design, develop, and manage PowerON's data management architecture and data management plan, including data flows, storage, governance, and quality standards across EMS systems and operational assets

  • Hands-on management and expansion of data pipelines and systems supporting EMS operations and analytics, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across the organization

  • Leverage AI tools and techniques to enhance analytics workflows, automate reporting, accelerate modelling, and extract insights from complex energy datasets

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand electrification products and processes and translate findings into CAPEX and OPEX optimization inputs

Operations & Market Participation

  • Oversee and support market participation of portfolio assets

  • Collaborate with Operations and the EMS team on asset monitoring, performance analysis, and reporting

  • Work closely with Electrification Solutions, Business Development, Operations and Maintenance, and Strategy to shape value stack delivery

  • Responsible for building and developing internal capabilities and processes that help PowerON identify opportunities early, respond faster than competitors, and continuously strengthen its market position

  • Identify and lead development of new analytical products and processes to support the path to electrification

  • Optimize internal analytics processes to improve efficiency and repeatability

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field,

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in energy analytics, modelling, or market operations

  • 5 + years experience managing a team

  • Direct experience with two or more of the following: EV charging systems, BESS, charge management systems, energy management systems, aggregation platforms, demand response, or load management

  • Strong knowledge of IESO market rules and participation frameworks; experience with additional ISO markets a strong asset

  • Experience with energy modelling, load forecasting, and scenario analysis tools

  • Proficiency in Python or equivalent data/scripting tools; advanced Excel skills required

  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) an asset

  • Experience with VPP, DSM, or distributed flexibility programs an asset

  • Self-initiated and intellectually curious, with a strong interest in electrification, grid services, and clean energy innovation

  • Effective communicator able to translate complex analytical outputs for technical and non-technical audiences
