Job description

Your Responsibilities

As an Energy Market Specialist, your primary focus will be on using and further developing Ramboll's European Electricity Market Model. You will also be involved in monitoring and analysing global energy commodity markets, contributing to the development of the Ancillary Service Market Model, and supporting the advancement of hybrid optimisation models for decentralised and behind-the-meter energy systems.

With energy systems becoming increasingly complex, there is a growing need for strong analytical expertise to identify challenges and recommend practical solutions. Ramboll supports a wide range of private and public sector clients by advising on both decentralised and centralised energy systems. Through a holistic approach, we analyse complex energy contexts and present them clearly using advanced energy system models applied across European and global markets.

As our new Energy Market Specialist, you will join the Advisory team within Ramboll Energy - Solutions for Industry. You will work closely with your immediate team as well as colleagues across the wider organisation. The role includes a broad range of tasks, and your specific responsibilities will depend on your expertise, experience, and professional development goals. You will be expected to take a leading role in developing and applying market models while also supporting and guiding less experienced team members.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the continued development of Ramboll's hybrid optimisation and electricity market models.
  • Developing and maintaining Ramboll's European Electricity Market Model in collaboration with the team.
  • Planning, conducting, and reporting electricity spot market and ancillary service market studies for clients.
  • Analysing global energy commodity markets and assessing their impact on European energy markets and individual countries.
  • Leading or supporting feasibility studies in cooperation with other teams.
  • Supporting business development activities, including the preparation of client proposals.
  • Collaborating with Ramboll business units and teams across different geographies to integrate electricity and energy market modelling solutions into projects.
  • Managing multiple studies and workstreams in parallel with flexibility.
  • Preparing technical presentations and presenting findings to clients.
  • Managing small and medium-sized projects.
  • Contributing to the development of Ramboll's business strategy within these areas.
Your Profile and Competencies

We expect you to hold an academic degree in economics, engineering, or a related field, along with strong professional experience in electricity and energy market modelling and analysis. Ideally, you will have 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferably gained within a consultancy environment.

You should be comfortable working in a dynamic and collaborative setting and have a strong interest in continuously expanding your knowledge and technical capabilities.

Your education and/or professional background should include some or all of the following:

  • Experience in using and developing electricity market models.
  • Strong understanding of energy system analysis.
  • Proficiency in operations research applied to energy system modelling.
  • Extensive programming experience, particularly in Python.
  • Knowledge of energy planning.
  • Understanding of energy system technologies.
  • Strong data processing skills.
