Endowed Chair Cancer Research Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Department of Urologic Surgery at our organization is seeking a full-time faculty member for the In-Residence series at the Associate or Full Professor level. This position is designated for the Auburn Community Cancer Endowed Chair in Basic Science, focusing on urologic oncology research. Faculty members in this series are expected to engage in teaching, conduct independent research, demonstrate professional competence, and contribute to both university and public service.

• Establish and maintain a nationally recognized research program in urologic cancer.
• Lead and define research projects while securing significant external funding to support these initiatives.
• Design, develop, and manage advanced experimental protocols and translational research strategies.
• Share research findings through high-impact publications, national and international presentations, and collaborative efforts.
• Teach and mentor a diverse range of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate students.
• Engage with professional societies and educational organizations, potentially taking on leadership roles.
• Contribute to non-university service, such as serving on research review boards.
• Participate in departmental, school, and campus committees.
• Promote collegiality and collaborate effectively within a diverse environment.
• Comply with university policies and procedures.

This recruitment is for the associate or full professor rank, and the successful candidate will be appointed at this level, irrespective of their qualifications. Appointments and reappointments will adhere to established university procedures for endowed chair positions, including annual reporting requirements for fund utilization.

The endowment payout will provide additional support for teaching, research, outreach, and related activities, enhancing the academic excellence and innovative research of the holder, thereby advancing the missions of both the Department of Urologic Surgery and the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The estimated salary range for this role is between $200,000 and $400,000, and it includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

• Possession of an M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or an equivalent terminal degree.
• A nationally recognized track record of research excellence, innovation, and sustained scholarly productivity.
• Proven success in developing, securing, and maintaining an externally funded prostate cancer research program.
• Experience in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across various disciplines within a complex academic health system.
• Preferred expertise in biologically grounded artificial intelligence, computational pathology, multimodal biomedical data, functional disease models, and clinical translation to enhance precision health.
• Demonstrated success in bridging basic, translational, and clinical research to improve patient outcomes.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
