Job description

North Jersey Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center is seeking a Per diem Registered Nurse to join our team. The Endoscopy RN will provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient endoscopic procedures. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and experience working in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
  • Serve as a circulating nurse in the procedure room.
  • Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies for upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy.
  • Collaborate with gastroenterologists, anesthesia providers, nurses, and endoscopy technicians to ensure safe patient care.
  • Monitor patient condition and ensure patient safety during procedures.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
  • Educate patients and families on pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and ASC protocols.
  • Uses equipment effectively following manufacturer's instruction for use
  • Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice
  • Assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the admission area
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of Pre Op/Admitting area
  • Actively participates as a team member in support of the total pre-anesthesia care process
  • Per Center Policy, uses two patient identifiers, identifies and validates the patient and procedure to be performed
  • Administers medications following physician orders and standards of care
  • Considers cost containment by using supplies economically and by managing efficient turnover time

Position Qualifications:
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program (AAS RN)
  • Required: NJ State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Required: BLS/ACLS
  • Good IV skills.
  • Ambulatory surgery center or endoscopy experience: 1 year
  • Demonstrates basic computer skills
  • Preferred: Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing or related field
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • This position requires availability for no less than 2 shifts per month with at least one being a weekend shift (630a-1230p)
