Job description

Under the supervision of ASC leadership and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards, the ASC Clinical Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in multiple departments(Pre Op, PACU, PAT, Endoscopy, Operating Room) within an Ambulatory Surgery Center environment. The nurse conducts assessments, plans and implements patient care, documents clinical findings, and identifies situations requiring further intervention. The ASC Clinical Nurse develops and communicates goaldirected care plans, advocates for patient rights, and delivers safe, compassionate, and timely care to patients across all age groups. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and adherence to the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital while supporting continuous quality improvement across the ASC.

Technical Skills ad Anilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of nursing principles, ASC procedures, regulatory requirements, and evidencebased practice for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care.

  • Ability to conduct thorough assessments, identify changes in patient condition, and deliver ageappropriate care while recognizing physical, emotional, and cultural needs.

  • Competence in documenting assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses accurately and timely; ability to develop, implement, and revise individualized care plans.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams; provide education; support patient rights; and foster a positive care experience.

  • Ability to identify clinical concerns, escalate appropriately, intervene effectively during emergencies, and follow infection control and safety policies consistently.

  • Ability to function as a team member in a fastpaced ASC environment, maintain professional interactions with physicians and staff, and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

  • Deliver comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care according to ASC protocols and individualized patient needs.

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments, document findings, identify patient needs, and communicate changes in condition promptly.

  • Formulate nursing care plans based on assessment data, implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.

  • Administer medications safely, start IVs, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and perform required nursing procedures per ASC standards.

  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, physician communications, and care plans in compliance with legal and ASC requirements.

  • Explain procedures, discharge instructions, and postoperative care requirements clearly and compassionately.

  • Advocate for patient safety, ensure informed consent processes, uphold HIPAA and confidentiality standards, and maintain aseptic technique.

  • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and fellow nurses to coordinate safe, efficient patient care.

  • Comply with bloodborne pathogen protocols, use PPE, handle bodily fluids safely, and maintain a clean and safe patient environment.

  • Assist with ASC workflow needs, participate in quality improvement activities, support new staff orientation, and carry out additional tasks assigned by leadership.

  • Current Registered Nurse license I the state of Florida

  • CPR/BL required
