Job description

Position Overview
This role supports emergency department staff by assisting registered nurses, physician assistants, and physicians with basic patient care procedures. The Advanced EMT provides care across all age groups, including infants, children, and adults, under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
  • Assist clinical staff with simple procedures and patient care tasks.
  • Provide or assist with splinting, casting, and immobilization of patient extremities.
  • Help transport patients to and from the emergency department as needed.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and maintain logs to comply with regulatory standards.
  • Support inventory management, including stocking and ordering supplies and equipment (voluntary).
Qualifications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Computer literacy is preferred.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including light to heavy lifting and pushing of patients or equipment.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years experience working in an emergency department setting.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications
  • Must hold a current EMT or Paramedic certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • For employees with prior CNA certification hired before 2/4/2020, maintain a minimum of 10 continuing education units annually related to work.

All candidates must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background check prior to employment. Compliance with regional COVID-19 vaccination mandates is required.
This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Pacific Northwest coastal communities.
