Per diem EMTs are typically scheduled to fill in for staff shortages, busy shifts, or special events rather than having a regular, set schedule. This role allows for flexibility and often pays at a higher hourly rate to compensate for the lack of benefits and guaranteed hours. EMT B Per Diem professionals perform the same emergency care duties as full-time EMTs, including patient assessment, basic medical care, and transportation to medical facilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EMT B Per Diem?

Familiarity with ambulance equipment, patient care reporting systems, and protocols for emergency response is typically required.
