Get to Know Your Team:
  • BSA provides 24-hour paramedic care through our ambulance service, which responds to emergencies in Canyon and 825 square miles of Randall County. BSA EMS staffs two stations 24/7/365, one in northern Randall County and one in Canyon.

Responsibilities
An EMT-Basic (EMT-B) in Texas provides out-of-hospital emergency medical care, stabilization, and safe transport for patients experiencing medical emergencies or injuries. EMT-Bs operate under medical oversight and within protocols approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.
  • Certification or licensure as an EMT-Basic by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • Successful completion of a DSHS-approved EMT-B course and passing of the National Registry exam.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Valid minimum Class C Texas Driver's License with restriction "A" permissible.
  • Completion of the following Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.A is required within 80 days of employment.

Preferred Job Requirements:
  • Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS).
  • Field experience.
