Job description

Application deadline: Jun 1, 2026
Are you passionate about using Big Data to build customer trust and grow new business. Global advertisers rely on our team's performance insights to drive future investment in Amazon's Advertising Platform and improve the relevance of ads shown to customers. We're looking for strong Software Development Engineers who can combine EMR, Redshift, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, and other technologies to build the next generation of our analytics and visualization platform.

If this sounds interesting, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Team
Amazon is well positioned to grow its share of the fast-growing online advertising industry thanks to its unique assets - e-commerce data, service-oriented architecture, and startup culture. Be part of a team of industry-leading experts that builds and operates one of the largest big data analytics platforms at Amazon. We apply the latest machine learning and big data technologies to transform how marketers purchase, track, measure, and optimize their advertising spend

We process terabytes of data (over 10 billion new events per day) and operate clusters that push the scalability limits of existing technologies. Our goal: measure every possible signal indicating the impact of advertising to provide the most objective view of marketing spend.
The Role
In this role, you will design and develop software products that impact many areas of our business. You'll help define requirements, create software designs, implement code to specification, deliver thorough unit and integration testing, and support products in production for our stakeholders

You'll own your work end-to-end - from problem definition through deployment and beyond.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop software products that deliver measurement data to a wide set of users across Amazon's full advertising suite
- Demonstrate a variety of design approaches and patterns, building maintainable and scalable software in a high-level language
- Collaborate with Engineering teams, Data & Applied Scientists, and senior technical leaders advancing measurement science and causal inference
- Adapt to evolving technical environments and devise creative solutions to complex software challenges
- Build petabyte-scale services, invent new big data paradigms, and architect for internet-scale growth - tackling some of the toughest and most inspiring technical challenges of your career
A day in the life
We measure the effectiveness of ads through a range of deterministic measurement and modeling techniques, including scientific experiments and ML. We do this to enable advertisers to optimize ad spend and allocate budgets effectively by providing accurate, actionable and timely causal measurement for all Amazon ad products. We use a combination of deterministic and modeled measurement techniques to produce the estimates that are fast, accurate, and actionable

We apply the latest AWS big data and machine learning technologies on over 50 billion new events per day, operating petabyte size clusters. We constantly invent event-driven architectures to stay ahead of growth
