Job description

Lead Employee Relations Strategy at TriHealth

This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished Employee Relations leader to serve as the organization's subject matter expert on employee and provider relations.

As Manager of Employee Relations, you will lead a team of Employee Relations professionals while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) members on TriHealth's most complex, sensitive, and high-impact workforce matters. Your expertise will directly influence organizational decisions, leadership effectiveness, workplace culture, and risk mitigation strategies across the enterprise.

Beyond managing day-to-day employee relations operations, you will shape the future of the function by developing policies, creating scalable processes and standard operating procedures, driving organizational consistency, and elevating team capability. This role requires a leader who can seamlessly move between executive-level consultation, complex investigations, organizational change leadership, and team transformation.

The ideal candidate brings deep Employee Relations expertise, exceptional executive presence, and a proven track record of building high-performing teams, strengthening leadership accountability, and implementing sustainable employee relations programs and practices.

We're seeking a leader who has: 

  • Served as the primary Employee Relations subject matter expert within a large, complex organization
  • Advised senior executives and executive leadership teams on high-risk and business-critical employee relations matters
  • Successfully lead and transformed teams of five or more professionals, improving capability, accountability performance, and service delivery
  • Created, implemented, and maintained employee relations policies, SOPs, governance frameworks, investigations protocols, and leader resources
  • Led complex workplace investigations involving senior leaders, significant organizational risk, or highly sensitive workplace concerns
  • Built proactive employee relations strategies and programs that improved workplace culture, reduced risk, and enhanced leader effectiveness
  • Demonstrated the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority and effectively challenge senior leader when appropriate

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, business, or related fields; Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience (required)
  • 5-7 years of Employee Relations experience managing complex workplace issues (required)
  • 5-7 years of progressive Human Resource Experience (required)
  • Experience providing consultation or performance management, corrective action, ADAA accommodations, FMLA and other employee relations decisions (required)
  • Experience conducting investigations and providing guidance on workplace conduct, policy violations and other complex investigations (required)
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Facilitation, Presentation, Consulting skills, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, HRIS Data Analysis
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR or related HR certifications is preferred; however, qualified candidates without certification will be considered

Job Overview:

The Manager, Employee Relations reports to the Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner and Team Member Relations is a resource to team members and leaders identifying needs and solutions to resolve day-to-day employee relation issues.  A Center of Expertise role will partner closely with legal, and risk management in fulfilling unemployment, subpoena, and/or mitigation needs 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Team Member and Provider Relations function, including daily operations, work prioritization, case assignment, escalation support, and team member development.  
  • Coach and develop direct reports by providing clear expectations, timely feedback, performance support, professional development, and ongoing capability building in team member and provider relations practices. 
  • Maintain a strong service orientation and partnership approach while ensuring accountability, confidentiality, consistency, and alignment with TriHealth's mission, values, leadership competencies, and ALWAYS Behaviors.
  • Provide expert consultation to leaders, Human Resources partners, and other stakeholders on team member and provider relations matters, policy interpretation, corrective action, performance concerns, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.  
  • Support leader education and capability building by developing or facilitating training, tools, talking points, and resources related to employee relations, corrective action, documentation, policy application, and workplace conduct expectations.
  • Ensure team member and provider relations cases are addressed in a timely, consistent, objective, and legally compliant manner, with appropriate documentation and alignment to organizational policy and practice.
  • Provide guidance on complex workplace investigations, ensuring thorough fact-finding, appropriate confidentiality, sound recommendations, and clear communication of outcomes.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Security, Leave of Absence, HR Business Partners, and operational leaders to mitigate employment risk and support effective resolution of sensitive issues.
  • Provide oversight and support for unemployment claims, subpoenas, employment-related documentation requests, and other risk-related processes requiring accurate and timely response.
  • Identify trends, recurring concerns, policy gaps, documentation issues, and leader capability needs through case data, themes, and stakeholder feedback; recommend proactive solutions to improve workplace culture and reduce risk.
